Produced while adhering to the Van Winkle family wheated bourbon recipe, Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon aged in these barrels for 15 years before they were emptied fresh.
The deeply charred barrels sat in a Buffalo Trace Distillery rickhouse in Kentucky, aging the storied bourbon until deemed ready. The barrels’ staves have enjoyed a decade and a half of soaking in and resting Pappy Van Winkle bourbon until it carried notes of caramel corn and vanilla aromas; leather, oak and fruit flavors; and a finish that features spice and oak tannins.
