Authentic French Cognac casks like these only reach the United States a couple times per year. As the name suggests, these are V.S. (very special) Cognac barrels. V.S. Cognac is a blend in which the youngest brandy has been aged for at least two years in a cask.
Important notes: Casks are inspected and re-coopered if any issues are found. This may include new heads and/or rings. However, in order to preserve the cognac flavor in the staves, the interior is not shaved or even touched. Barrel heads are laser engraved with the current year
